Hawaii wedding photographer, Stephen Ludwig's personal collection of recent photography and fine art works.
Hello! Welcome to my blog, I’m Stephen Ludwig. Feel free to take the time to look around at my wedding photography and other personal work I have posted. Just to let you know a little bit about myself, I currently live in Hawaii on the sunny island of Oahu. It’s a great place to live and an even better one to work on. I have been capturing people’s memories for the last seven years as a professional wedding photographer and have been a professional artist/photographer for the last ten. I can’t tell you how fortunate I feel being able to work with so many great, happy, and in love people in one of the world’s most beautiful places.
I was born in Hawaii. Because my father was in the military, I went on to live in five different states (Maine, Alaska, California, Wisconsin, and Ohio) until I ended up right back here in Hawaii. I’m not sure if it was growing up in so many unique places or the countless cross country road trips my parents would drag us along on but I grew up loving to see new places and meeting new people. I just can never get enough! Lucky for me, I don’t think I will see it all or meet them all no matter how much I try.
Since I was a child, I have always been interested in art. My older brother Geoff (one of my favorite artists) and I would stay up drawing and working on projects all night. However, my interest in photography didn’t spark until my family moved back to Hawaii when I was still in High School. My previous home, Wisconsin, was a bit more on the cold side. So during the cold winter months I spent much of my time indoors painting and drawing. With zero degree wind chill and more slush than snow who wants to be outside? After moving to Hawaii again I just couldn’t stay inside anymore, I needed to get out! So that’s how it all started.
Since then, I spent much of my time pursuing my favorite pastime…. ART. Nothing was too boring for my camera. I took it everywhere. Throughout high school my supportive art teachers encouraged me to pursue my craft and enroll in local and national art competitions. My senior year I held my first professional art show and was honored with numerous awards including the prestigious National Scholastic Pinnacle Award (Best of Show) in photography. While in college pursuing my Bachelor in Fine Arts degree I discovered many new outlets including ceramics, sculpture, graphic design, and web design. Each new artform helped me redefine the way I looked at my photography. At the same time I was fortunate enough to have several wedding photographers let me shadow them and learn the trade. It was a great opportunity. I loved working with so many happy people and enjoyed the fast paced nature of the trade. But, most rewarding of all, the reaction of my clients when they received their photos. From then on I knew it was the right job for me and I have been doing it ever since.

December 29, 2009 - 12:04 am - lovely seyying for a wedding ... and great pics
Chris and Kristi were such a pleasure to photograph. They both love playing basketball and wanted to somehow incorporate it into their engagement shoot since it was something they enjoyed so much together. I had never attempeted a basketball engagement shoot before but I though it was a great idea and was really excited to give it a go. We managed to find and empty court right in Waikiki which believe it or not is not always the easiest feat and started snapping away. It was a blast and the photos turned out great. Afterwards we took a few shots at a near by playground, we were hoping to take some photos on the swings but little kids were playing on them and nobody likes a playground bully so we let the kiddos have their fun and moved on to the beach for some sunset shots. Sadly the swings will just have to wait for another day. All in all it was a fun shoot, thanks Chris and Kristi for such a great day!

December 8, 2009 - 10:16 am - Beautiful pictures!!! Wow!
December 9, 2009 - 12:35 am - cool couple, their wedding day should be a blast!!!
Well I did it again. I said I wouldn’t re-post an old wedding for a while but looking back at Alex and Janelle’s crazy cool wedding I realized that I was so excited to put the photos up that I only put up a small handful of the shots that we had taken. It seemed like a shame for everybody to miss out on all these great wedding ideas that they thought up to make one of the most memorable weddings I have been to in quite some time. Check out the amazing turtle wedding cake by Cake Lava and the O so delicious and very photogenic food presented by Ginni Berries Catering. They even had a pinata to top things off. Weird thing, I had just been talking to Litton earlier that week about how funny it would be to have a pinata at our wedding in May and the next wedding we go to there one is……weird. The whole event was pulled together by Weddings by Grace and Mona. A little later in the week we took a trip down to Hawaii 50th State Fair, we played some games, took some rather vibrant photos, and had a blast. I even won a stuffed monkey, it was a good day.

October 7, 2009 - 11:29 am - Fantastic work!
November 25, 2009 - 1:44 pm - So beautiful, Stephen! We love your images and are excited to run their wedding on our website. Aloha!
Well here it is finally, I have been planning on putting this one up for quite some time. Noah and Tess, what can I say? They are such a great couple and such a joy to be around and work with. The wedding was great! The celebration was held at a beach front estate in charming Waimanalo. As you can see in the pictures they had a green themed wedding with plenty of delicious vegetarian food for everyone to eat, and best of all pie! I love pumpkin pie, on my deliciousness scale it earns a 9.5 only second to my all time favorite and reigning king of deliciousness Rhubarb Pie. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw their pie table for the official “Pie Cutting”. My other favorite was the painted wedding horse you have to check it out, it is one of a kind. Thanks again Noah and Tess for having us be a part of you wedding day, Litton and I had a wonderful time!
