Hawaii wedding photographer, Stephen Ludwig's personal collection of recent photography and fine art works.
Hello! Welcome to my blog, I’m Stephen Ludwig. Feel free to take the time to look around at my wedding photography and other personal work I have posted. Just to let you know a little bit about myself, I currently live in Hawaii on the sunny island of Oahu. It’s a great place to live and an even better one to work on. I have been capturing people’s memories for the last seven years as a professional wedding photographer and have been a professional artist/photographer for the last ten. I can’t tell you how fortunate I feel being able to work with so many great, happy, and in love people in one of the world’s most beautiful places.
I was born in Hawaii. Because my father was in the military, I went on to live in five different states (Maine, Alaska, California, Wisconsin, and Ohio) until I ended up right back here in Hawaii. I’m not sure if it was growing up in so many unique places or the countless cross country road trips my parents would drag us along on but I grew up loving to see new places and meeting new people. I just can never get enough! Lucky for me, I don’t think I will see it all or meet them all no matter how much I try.
Since I was a child, I have always been interested in art. My older brother Geoff (one of my favorite artists) and I would stay up drawing and working on projects all night. However, my interest in photography didn’t spark until my family moved back to Hawaii when I was still in High School. My previous home, Wisconsin, was a bit more on the cold side. So during the cold winter months I spent much of my time indoors painting and drawing. With zero degree wind chill and more slush than snow who wants to be outside? After moving to Hawaii again I just couldn’t stay inside anymore, I needed to get out! So that’s how it all started.
Since then, I spent much of my time pursuing my favorite pastime…. ART. Nothing was too boring for my camera. I took it everywhere. Throughout high school my supportive art teachers encouraged me to pursue my craft and enroll in local and national art competitions. My senior year I held my first professional art show and was honored with numerous awards including the prestigious National Scholastic Pinnacle Award (Best of Show) in photography. While in college pursuing my Bachelor in Fine Arts degree I discovered many new outlets including ceramics, sculpture, graphic design, and web design. Each new artform helped me redefine the way I looked at my photography. At the same time I was fortunate enough to have several wedding photographers let me shadow them and learn the trade. It was a great opportunity. I loved working with so many happy people and enjoyed the fast paced nature of the trade. But, most rewarding of all, the reaction of my clients when they received their photos. From then on I knew it was the right job for me and I have been doing it ever since.

Well here it is finally, I have been planning on putting this one up for quite some time. Noah and Tess, what can I say? They are such a great couple and such a joy to be around and work with. The wedding was great! The celebration was held at a beach front estate in charming Waimanalo. As you can see in the pictures they had a green themed wedding with plenty of delicious vegetarian food for everyone to eat, and best of all pie! I love pumpkin pie, on my deliciousness scale it earns a 9.5 only second to my all time favorite and reigning king of deliciousness Rhubarb Pie. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw their pie table for the official “Pie Cutting”. My other favorite was the painted wedding horse you have to check it out, it is one of a kind. Thanks again Noah and Tess for having us be a part of you wedding day, Litton and I had a wonderful time!

I try not to repost weddings as much as possible but I had a bunch of photos I wanted to include from this wedding that weren’t in the first post so I had to do a little updating . With that said here it is again with the new additions. I have a bunch of new weddings I am planning on posting in the next week or so.
This weddings so much fun! Dan and Rita were so easy going and great to work with. They had a beautiful ceremony at the Turtle Bay Resort pavilion followed by a great dancing entrance that started their reception off on the right foot. The whole night everybody was dancing. It was so much fun! Here are some shots from the wedding day. I will be posting more photos of them again shortly. I hope you enjoy!

I don’t normally just put up one photo at a time, but I just had to. That evening there was a huge full moon, creating a beautiful sky, what better time for a late night wedding bonfire.

I always love going to Maui and the other outer islands for weddings, it’s a nice change of pace and scenery from my weddings on Oahu. Nothing quite captures the beauty and laid back feeling of Maui like the White Orchid Beach house. This charming and private beach house is nestled between lush tropical foliage and a breathtaking rocky beach. Looking out to the horizon you can see the sunset just behind the island of lanai. Very Pretty! Joe and Mia were a great pair to work with, as I am sure you can tell in the photos. They brought a fun crowd along with them to celebrate in there festivities. Congratulations Mia and Joe for being “Just Mauied!”

I met Noah and Tess while we were both working a wedding expo not too long ago. They are one of the friendliest pairs you will ever meet. Not only are they great models and very coordinated, Noah did a hand stand on a pier without falling into the water. Now that takes talent! They are also both amazing wedding photographers, you have to check out their site at www.noahjorr.com. Keep a watch out for their wedding post coming soon!
